If Life really wanted to be a bad ass he would have either sent the corpse back himself or completely disintegrated it. Just cutting off its head and killing it is so half-assing it.
Well, he can’t send it back- it cuts through space, not into other worlds like the demon world or the celestial realm. Also that would take a lot of slashing to disintegrate something with a sword.

Extremely powerful weapons tend to have flaws in their use, restrictions on how to use them, limited ammunition, require extreme amounts of energy or are simply too dangerous to use except under extreme circumstances.
