It only really makes sense if you know this is a bit of a recap, knowing that Axel was stabbed by Life and left for dead- only to be saved by the outsider that used his wound as a door. It wouldn’t make sense in context for it to mean Life’s skills had improved because there was no sign of such a change nor any mention of it.
What do you mean by “he got better”? Is it that Axel recovered from his injuries or Life’s skills have improved?
