“You can see but identify illusions” doesn’t sound right. Was that intentional?

I kinda have to disagree but If it’s really that bad I’ll ask around and get a consensus on it. The reason for the wording is because, being the null, some people think that he cannot see illusions because they wouldn’t affect him. If he CAN see them though wouldn’t that mean that he is somehow affected by them? This says that while he can see them, he somehow knows they are not real. Thus “See but identify” takes that into account and to me seems to be how Kate would be asking because it is a more involved question.
Copypasted from above.

‘can see but identify illusions’ Isn’t the best choice of words, I fear. Maybe ‘and’ instead? It’s a bit confusing…

I sort of got what she was asking, but the grammar felt unclear and I wound up looking down here to see if it was just me. I thought you accidentally left a word out after “but” or “can” was suppose to be “can’t”. “But also” would probably help, or changing “but” to “and” since they imply he can see what the illusion is showing and know that it is an illusion.
