hmm. I wonder what the projectile was made of that it survived a long trip through the atmosphere(fired horisontally, not straight up or even at an angle) at escape velocity.(an iron manhole cover was launched at escape velocity buy a nuclear test, but was not spotted in space, is assumed vaporized)
