The classic arrogance of people in power that they stop realizing that they aren’t really that powerful and that screwing around with someone who has something you need and doesn’t need what you have will not end well for them. Mistaking politeness for weakness and thinking they hold all the cards when they don’t even hold the box the cards came in.
People in charge are only as powerful as the people who actually care what they say.
Shiden’s being just polite enough to not physically drop the mic….this time. (….yet.)
Similar to how in Freefall Sam wants to know how the people in power among humans convinced the people with the actual power that they had no power at all.
I think the Senator is pretty lucky that Shiden is still playing nice and civilized instead of shouting and acting like a cut-rate stage villian.
I’m getting some big Tony Stark in Iron Man 2 vibes from this.
