My birthday! Yaaaay! Thanksgiving filler for Wednesday, and comic will resume Friday! If you are wondering about getting something for me, consider getting something for yourself too! Buy a book! I am using the money I get from their sales to help me buy a Wacom Cintiq Companion. I’ve done a lot of research on portable tablets for drawing, and so far the Cintiq Companion seems to be perfect. The major gripe I have heard is it’s low memory at 8GB shared with the graphics card. By today’s standards that seems low, but it is also running on a solid state drive. Virtual memory on an SSD is remarkably faster than the more common HDD. According to the reviews, it more than makes up for the memory. Well… If you actually read all that, I’m sorry for probably boring you! I’m just excited about it. ^_^ Thanks, and take care everyone!

I can relate to computer difficulties. Months before in the year 2013 I was doing a project in AutoCAD relating to my medical background…I was running AutoCAD on an AMD Quadcore trying to demonstrate organic shapes as a proof of concept…that a computer could be “taught” to generate the geometries needed to 3D print organs. (There’s a company near where I live called Organovo that’s working on it…they can do cartilage, but other organs are trickier).
Just before my project was due, however, my mainboard fried. Yeah, I was careful to liquid cool my CPU, but AMD boards have 2 chipsets…the “Northbridge” (high speed, high demand tasks) and the “Southbridge” (most other tasks). The Northbridge fried. Fortunately I could get a replacement board then easy enough, and I was back up and running.
My project won best in class/best in show at the student showcase that year.
